Please do not get sucked into this fitness foe, and if you already have, quit now, because not only is it misleading and ineffective, it can be hazardous to your health!
Working at a spa on Miami Beach, I can personally say that every client who I have seen walk out of their mud wrap treatment has been satisfied. Mud Wraps are designed to release tension as the mud warms the body. However, this is not the type of body wrap that I am exposing today. It is the self proclaimed slimming/weight loss/cellulite eliminating body wrap! My spa does not offer such wraps and I could not work for one that did.
The way that these wraps work is that your body is wrapped tightly in material that doesn’t allow your skin to properly ‘breathe’, causing you to sweat. By sweating, you are losing water, and like everything in our body, water weighs. Thus, body wrap distributers can market their product as a weight loss one. Now consider which one you want to lose: water or fat? Remember the body wraps claim is to reduce weight, not fat. Tricky, eh?
