Today’s Breakfast Choice

Alright, it wasn’t actually breakfast. (I ate a banana, hard boiled egg, and slice of toast for breakfast). It was a post-breakfast snack. I popped in the cafeteria at work for a quick look, earlier this afternoon, and I instantly spotted a danish left over from breakfast. I didn’t hesitate to snatch it up and take a bite. To my surprise, a coworker of mine was passing around the corner and looked at me with disappointment. We both work for the same hotel on South Beach, but in different departments. I work for the fitness center of the hotel, and she said to me, “You are supposed to be setting an example for us.” I smiled and said, “I know. I’m awful.” Sometimes I forget who’s watching. I like to “cheat” every once in a while because completely depriving yourself of sweets will only make you more likely to binge later, when you can no longer control your craving. Also, when you stay as active as I do, you can afford an occasional pastry. Yet, still, I wouldn’t want to make anyone feel bad by seeing me eat something unhealthy in front of them, when they are trying to change their diet for the better. I usually have fruit or yogurt when I crave a sweet snack. So if you’re trying to eat better and have a sweet tooth like I do, give it try. Make the switch from a pastry to fruit or yogurt. I know. I know. It’s not the same, but it does the trick! 😉
